How we compare — and how we get paid

Prices and review counts come straight from the platforms' feeds, every non-price fact is checked against an official or recent source, and our commission never decides the order.

Where the numbers come from

  • Prices, ratings, review counts and durations come from each platform's own data: the GetYourGuide partner feed, Headout's public catalogue and the Tiqets partner catalogue. We store them with the date checked and show that date under every block of tour cards. Prices are in US dollars, rounded up, and are the lowest price the platform showed for any date — your date and group size can change them.
  • Everything else — ticket prices in Egyptian pounds, opening hours, train timetables, drive times, safety rules — is checked against official sources such as Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the railway operators and the airlines, or recent reputable coverage. Each page lists its sources and the date we checked them.

How we rank

  1. Fit first. A tour only appears on a page if it matches the page's purpose — a West Bank page shows West Bank tours.
  2. Verified reviews. Within a page, listings are ordered by the number of verified reviews on the platform, with currently bookable tours ahead of unavailable ones.
  3. Our picks. The "short answer" cards at the top of each page are editorial: the best overall, the best value, the best private option, and who should skip the whole thing. We explain each pick in a sentence.
  4. The honest alternative. Where you can do something just as well on your own — a taxi to the West Bank, a ticket at the gate, a felucca from the Corniche — we say so in a "Do it yourself instead?" box.

Affiliate disclosure

Links to GetYourGuide, Headout and Tiqets are affiliate links. If you book through them, we receive a commission from the platform at no extra cost to you. We don't earn anything from the operators directly, and operators can't pay to be listed or reviewed. Each link goes straight to the tour on the platform, in your language where the platform offers it, and carries our partner ID so the platform can credit the booking.

How often we update

The platform feed is refreshed regularly; editorial facts are re-checked when a source changes and at least every season. Every page shows its last update date. If something is wrong, tell us.
