The short answer
- Best overallValley of the Kings QR Code Entry Ticket4.336 reviewsfrom $18GetYourGuide
The Valley of the Kings ticket with three tombs as a QR code, for a few dollars over face value. Add Tutankhamun or Seti I at the visitor center.
- Best valueKarnak Temple QR Code Entry Ticket4.877 reviewsfrom $14GetYourGuide
Karnak's QR ticket at about $14 against a face value of about $11.50 — the smallest mark-up of the online options in today's feed.
- Most flexibleTemple of Hatshepsut Skip-the-Line Tickets4.69 reviewsfrom $13Headout
The only online ticket for the Temple of Hatshepsut among the three platforms, useful if you're visiting the West Bank by taxi.
- Skip it ifYou have a Visa or Mastercard that works abroad
Then the ticket office is cheapest. Queues at Luxor's temples are rarely long, and you can add extra tombs on the spot.
How much are Luxor entry tickets in 2026?
Luxor tickets are sold per site, with no combined day ticket. These are the official prices for foreign visitors, as listed by Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and its booking site on 21 October 2026. Dollar figures are approximate, at about 52 EGP to the dollar. Prices change, sometimes with little notice, so treat them as a guide.

Most West Bank sites open from 6:00, with last entry at 4:00 pm in winter and 5:00 pm in summer. The official rules also ask you to arrive at least an hour before closing. Deir el-Medina and the Tombs of the Nobles have their own tickets too; we couldn't confirm their current prices, so check at the West Bank ticket office.
QR and skip-the-line tickets vs the ticket office
Three platforms sell Luxor entry online. Headout has the widest range of skip-the-line tickets — the Valley of the Kings, Karnak, Luxor Temple and Hatshepsut. GetYourGuide sells QR tickets for the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temple. Tiqets sells Luxor Temple.
| Site | Face value | GetYourGuide QR | Headout skip-the-line | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Valley of the Kings | about $14.50 | from about $18 | from about $22 | Avoiding the card window at the busiest site |
| Karnak | about $11.50 | from about $14 | from about $19 | Morning visits on your own |

Luxor entry tickets online
US-dollar prices come from each platform's own feed and were checked on October 21, 2026. Dates and group size change them — the booking page has the final price.
Is the mark-up worth it? "Skip the line" sounds better than it is here — the queues at Luxor's ticket offices are rarely long. The real benefits are payment and planning. A QR ticket bought with your home card avoids a foreign card being declined at the window, and a platform booking comes with English customer support.

The extra tombs — Tutankhamun, Seti I, Ramesses V & VI — are not part of the platform tickets. Buy them at the Valley of the Kings visitor center before boarding the tram; you can't buy them at the tombs.
How to pay: cards, cash and students
Egypt's antiquities ministry has been moving ticket sales to bank cards, and the first self-service ticket machines, in the Valley of the Kings, take cards only. Recent visitor reports from 2026 say the Luxor ticket windows no longer accept Egyptian banknotes. Carry a Visa or Mastercard, warn your bank, and keep a second card as a backup.
Student prices need a valid student ID, and the official rules set the age limit at 24. Children under 6 enter free. Taking photos with a mobile phone is free; ask about professional cameras or tripods before you use them.
Is the Luxor Pass worth it?
The Luxor Pass is a five-day pass to the archaeological sites of both banks, sold at the visitor centers of Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. We couldn't find it on the ministry's ticket sites, so these terms come from recent travel guides, which agree with each other:
- Standard: about $130, or $70 for students under 30 — all East and West Bank sites except the tombs of Seti I and Nefertari.
- Premium: about $250, or $130 for students — adds Seti I and Nefertari.
- Payment in US dollars or euros cash, in clean bills, with your passport, a copy of its photo page and a passport photo.
Do the math before you buy. At 52 EGP to the dollar, $130 is about 6,760 EGP. Every major site in the tables above — the Valley of the Kings with Tutankhamun, Ramesses V & VI and Ay, Hatshepsut, the Queens, Medinet Habu, the Ramesseum, Carter's House, Karnak with Mut, Luxor Temple and both museums — comes to about 5,110 EGP. Add Seti I and you reach about 7,110 EGP, still well under the premium pass's 13,000 EGP, especially with Nefertari closed. At current rates, the pass makes sense only if ticket prices rise or the exchange rate moves sharply.
For which tombs to choose, see the West Bank guide; for timing the East Bank temples, see Karnak and Luxor Temple. A full-day tour that includes tickets is often the simplest answer of all.
Questions travellers ask
How much is the Valley of the Kings ticket?
750 EGP for a foreign adult and 375 EGP for a student, as listed by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities on 21 October 2026 — about $14.50. It covers three tombs from those open that day. Tutankhamun (700 EGP), Seti I (2,000 EGP) and Ramesses V & VI (220 EGP) are extra. The short tram from the visitor center costs about 20 EGP return.
Can you pay cash for tickets in Luxor?
Plan not to. Egypt's antiquities ministry has been limiting monument ticket sales to bank cards, and the self-service machines in the Valley of the Kings take cards only. Recent visitors report that Luxor ticket windows refuse banknotes. Bring a Visa or Mastercard and tell your bank you're in Egypt. The Luxor Pass is the exception — it is reported to be cash only.
Is the Luxor Pass worth it?
Usually not at current exchange rates. The standard pass is reported at $130 (about 6,760 EGP), while every major East and West Bank site — including Tutankhamun's tomb and both museums — adds up to about 5,110 EGP at face value. The premium pass adds Seti I and Nefertari for $250, but Nefertari's tomb is closed. Students under 30 also do better with individual student tickets.
Where can I buy official Luxor tickets online?
The ministry's own booking site, egymonuments.com, sells tickets for the main Luxor sites in Egyptian pounds. GetYourGuide sells QR tickets for the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temple; Headout adds Hatshepsut; Tiqets sells Luxor Temple. The platforms charge a few dollars over face value but give you a refundable booking and English support.
Do students get discounts in Luxor?
Yes, roughly half price at most sites — but on the official ticket rules students must show a valid student ID and be no older than 24. Seti I's tomb has no student rate. Children under 6 enter free. Bring the physical card; a photo on your phone may not be accepted.
Do I need tickets if I'm on a tour?
Only if your tour excludes them, which many cheaper ones do. Look for "entry fees" in the includes and excludes lists. If they're excluded, your guide will walk you to each ticket window and you pay by card. Tours that "include tickets" almost never include Tutankhamun or Seti I — budget for those separately.
