Luxor Safe Tours & Taxi — low prices, strict terms

Luxor Safe Tours & Taxi is a small Luxor driver-and-guide service with some of the lowest private prices in town. Its cancellation terms are tough, and the license number on its site belongs to a differently named company in Giza.

Who are Luxor Safe Tours & Taxi?

Luxor Safe Tours & Taxi is a small Luxor business that sells private day tours, transfers, Nile cruises and short packages — the name says taxi, and private cars are still a large part of the menu. Its website gives an address on Khaled Ibn el-Walid Street in Luxor and says it has organized trips there since 2012. The About page is written in the first person, which suggests an owner-run business rather than an agency with departments.

It calls itself a "registered travel services agency" and "fully legal", and gives license number 1432. When we looked that number up in the Egyptian Travel Agents Association index, it belonged to a Category A company with a different name, registered in May 2006 at an address in Mohandessin, Giza, whose contact details don't mention Luxor Safe. That isn't proof of wrongdoing: small Luxor services sometimes sell under a licensed partner. It does mean you should ask which company will invoice you, and in whose name the car is insured.

The phone number on the site is a US number with a +1 code rather than an Egyptian one.

What Luxor Safe Tours sells and what it costs

Luxor to Aswan Private car $72 — — One-way transfer

The West Bank tour includes the car, air-conditioning, water and a guide, with entry tickets excluded — Nefertari's tomb, if you add it, needs its own ticket. These are among the lowest private prices we found in Luxor.

US-dollar prices come from each platform's own feed and were checked on October 21, 2026. Dates and group size change them — the booking page has the final price.

How booking, payment and cancellation work

  • Advance payment: due within three days of confirmation; the balance before or on arrival. Christmas and New Year bookings must be paid in full upfront.
  • Payment methods: bank wire, Western Union or PayPal for overseas advances.
  • Cancellation: 10% of the price more than 45 days out, 20% at 44–15 days, 25% at 14–7 days, 50% from six days to 48 hours, and no refund inside 48 hours or for a no-show. A minimum 10% service charge applies to any cancellation.
  • Peak season: 20 December to 15 January and Easter have separate cancellation rules.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Very low private prices for Luxor day tours
  • Wide menu, from carriage rides to Abu Simbel
  • Cheap private transfers to Hurghada, Aswan and Marsa Alam
  • Luxor-based, with a street address in town

Cons

  • License number on the site belongs to a differently named Giza company
  • No refund inside 48 hours; minimum 10% charge on any cancellation
  • Western Union and wire payments leave little recourse if something goes wrong
  • No platform listing in the feeds we compare, so no third-party refund route

Verdict

Our score: 3.4 / 5. Luxor Safe Tours & Taxi offers some of the cheapest private days and transfers in Luxor, and if your plans are fixed that price is hard to ignore. Two things hold the score down: terms that keep everything inside 48 hours and charge at least 10% on any cancellation, and a license number that doesn't match the company name. If you book, pay the advance by PayPal rather than Western Union or wire, and get the licensed company's name on your confirmation.

For travelers coming from the Red Sea, our Hurghada guide compares day trips with transfers built in; for the other operators, see the overview.

Questions travellers ask

How much does Luxor Safe Tours & Taxi charge?

Its site lists a private full-day West Bank tour from $57, a private Karnak and Luxor Temple tour from $35, a Medinet Habu, Deir el-Medina and Valley of the Queens tour from $45, Dendera and Abydos from $77 and a balloon flight from $85. Entry tickets are excluded on the West Bank tour. Private transfers to Hurghada start at $63.

Is Luxor Safe Tours & Taxi licensed?

Its About page says it is fully legal and gives license number 1432. In the Egyptian Travel Agents Association index, license 1432 belongs to a Category A company with a different name, registered in Mohandessin, Giza, in 2006. Small Luxor services sometimes sell under a partner's license, but ask which company will issue your invoice.

What is the cancellation policy at Luxor Safe Tours?

Its terms charge 10% of the price more than 45 days before arrival, 20% from 44 to 15 days, 25% from 14 to 7 days, 50% from six days to 48 hours, and keep everything after that or for a no-show. A minimum 10% service charge applies to any cancellation, and Christmas, New Year and Easter have separate rules.

How do you pay Luxor Safe Tours & Taxi?

An advance payment is due within three days of confirmation, with the balance before or on arrival. Overseas advances go by bank wire, Western Union or PayPal, and peak-season bookings over Christmas and New Year must be paid in full in advance.

Is it cheaper than a taxi in Luxor?

A taxi on its own is cheaper, but it comes without a guide. The $57 West Bank day bundles a private car and a guide, which is what most people want in the Valley of the Kings. On the East Bank, Luxor Temple is walkable from the Corniche hotels, so a taxi to Karnak and back is enough if you don't need explanations.
